Lilah And Jax Are Officially 8!

The FRIDAY, before the twins' birthday, I got up at 4:00 a.m. like normal and didn't go to bed until 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Eeeekkkk! I still cannot believe my body handled it as well as it did.  What kept me up? WELL... DETAILS and BIRTHDAY SURPRISES.  Darren and I decided to revamp BOTH of the twins' rooms, for their birthdays, so I had to wait for them to go to bed before I could get to work.  Darren went to bed, sigh, and I stayed up.  By the time I looked at the clock, it was 4:00 a.m.  I went to bed on Lilah's window seat and set my alarm for 6:00 a.m. to set up for their birthday breakfast.  

These sweet kids were so excited to wake up and see what was in store for them.  It was the sweetest thing ever when Lilah said, "Happy Birthday Jax!" That melted my heart because it can very easily be the case that they forget it's each other's birthday through all of the excitement.  

I had to get up at 6:00 a.m. to finish some small decorating details and then prepare their birthday breakfast.  I bought a roll of banner paper at Wal-mart and made them a sign.  It read,

Jax's response was, "That's not true!"  Haha.  I don't think he could fathom life being that LONG!

AND THIS IS WHY I LOVE having a little girl.  EVERY DETAIL is special to her.

I made the twins a donut cake for breakfast: Krispy Kreme donuts AND sprinkled donut holes from Wal-mart.  

I also made waffle cone bowl of fresh fruit! So colorful and tasty.  Even daddy ate a bowl of it.

And bacon!

I just love how cute BOTH of these items turned out . I cut ONE strawberry in the shape of a heart for that extra touch.

 It's hard to believe they are 8.

We made sure to remind the twins that their new bedrooms were their birthday gifts from US, but we DID buy them a bag full of clothing, shoes, and a new basketball.  

Lilah's ball is a glow in the dark basketball aka "Night Ball".  

It was a fabulous morning!!!! I spent the rest of the morning organizing their rooms even MORE than I already had.  I cannot believe I was EXHAUSTED AT ALL! Stay tuned soon for a post on how we revamped their bedrooms.  I LOVE THEM!

8 POPS!

So what do you get when you combine birthday cake oreos, bunny poles marshmallow ropes, white chocolate, lollipop sticks, and sprinkles? Well, I am so glad that you asked.  Let me show you! Let me preface that typically, if I use a Pinterest idea, I try very hard to ALWAYS put a twist on it, to MAKE the idea MY OWN.  BUT THIS IDEA... IS MY OWN CREATION! #RaiseTheRoof. This treat was created for my twins who were about to turn 8. This would be the celebration treat for THEM and their classmates.  Let's take a trip to the journey of the "8 Cake Pop".

I found the bunny poles at Dollar General.  They were $1.99 for 12.  

Aren't they so colorful and pretty?

First, ROLL the marshmallow rope into a circle and secure it with a tiny skewer or tooth pick.  

I am so grateful for my videographer.  Hehe.  

Next... take an oreo cookie of your choice and...

OPEN it.

Using a toothpick or skewer, make an indention into the creme of the cookie.  

Place some previously melted, white chocolate (candy quick) in that spot.

Insert the remaining skewer into the white chocolate.  Place it as close to the marshmallow circle as possible to create a perfect 8. Place these on a lined cookie sheet, in the refrigerator until the chocolate is fully solidified.  (Approximately 10 minutes).  

NOW, you will want to FULLY submerge the oreo into the white chocolate.  Creating a surface for more edible decor.

Here is my funny, so non professional tutorial, if you are a person that needs a visual, instead of a set of directions.  

After these are finished, quickly add your embellishments or sprinkles.  Again, repeat the cooling process.  This time keep them in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.  After I pulled them back out of the fridge, I needed to adhere them to the lollipop sticks. I ran out of white chocolate, but I did have some blue, chocolate, candy wafers.  Dip the stick in your choice of colored chocolate AND again COOL!

So colorful and oh so UNIQUE! I created a printable, using a glorious program.  I hot glued the tag to the bottom of the lollipop stick.  "Let's celebrate! The twins are 8!"

If this doesn't scream 8, I don't know what does.

I could NOT be happier with the turn out.  

I was getting a tad camera happy because I felt like once these were given out, they would be devoured.

I delivered the cake pops to Lilah and Jax, the Thursday before their birthday.  I showed the class what they were about to eat and they squealed and squealed. But wait... there was even MORE...

Jax LOOOOOVES chicken minis from Chick-Fil-A. So, I decided to also treat everyone to (2) chicken minis EACH. After all, I couldn't give those precious kids just sugar and NOT counter act it with some form of protein.  I think the smiles on their faces say it all!
